Red Squirrel, you should try making your own yoghurt. It's dead easy, way cheaper than buying it, and tastes delish.

Hey Wine Legs, I've been making yoghurt since I was a schoolkid and plan to make lots of stuff once I've found somewhere to live. I'm flat-sitting at the moment and all my kitchen equipment's in storage. I'm itching to get back into preserving and really miss my home-made saeurkraut.

I use Easyo for yogurt. Has some packaging but going to see if I can use the kit to make my own once finished

I've always made it in a Thermos flask.

I use two pints of milk, about 3 tbsp yogurt left from the last batch. Heat milk to 85 let it cool to 45 add yogurt. Cover and stick in the airing cupboard over night. Alternatively but a hot water bottle at the bottom of an insulated cool bag. Make a nest of towels and put dish in the middle leave overnight.

Yep that's it; same as Shadow's airing cupboard method. I keep testing the milk with my little finger then whisk in the yoghurt when slightly higher than body temperature and leave overnight in Thermos with lid on and in airing cupboard.

I use SS's recipe, but do mine in a thermos flask, because I have one. And I just leave it on the bench. Seems to work fine.

My easyo is an insulating container which you put boiling water in and then put the pot with mix in it so should work fine

Just need a replacement mix!

Was interested in the idea of Greek yogurt too - how’s that different?

I just bunged my finished yoghurt in a muslin lined sieve over a bowl for an hour or two & strained some whey off. Job done.
