Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

I think Kung should have it as Roglic probably won't take risks. 28 secs should be too much to make up in the last section.

O'Connor has second on GC unless he blows up in the last section.

Mentioned blowing up as O'Connor has a habit of going to hard in the mountains early chasing attacks but he probably doesn't do that on a TT bike.

Kung wins! Epic ride as he had a gap to everyone else

Roglic second. O'Connor held on for 2nd fairly comfortable. Well deserved.

No big drama on the last day. Rog's 4th Vuelta. Blimey, he must be itching to get an injury free crack at the Tour.

Roglic is not at the level of Pogacar or Vingegaard.

That doesn't mean he wouldn't like to have a race where he performs at his best without issues.

Yeah - he may well never have been/ never be at the level, but I think it's only fair he gets a go.

If we're talking about the past, he was at the level in 2020 and 2021. He was definitely the strongest in the mountains in 2020 but rode like he could depend on the TT which was mistake. 2021 he looked to be at the level through the season and we never got to see what he could do.

2022 Pogacar was probably was the best GT rider in the world but Roglic was close enough with Vingegaard that both of them attacking constantly on Stage 11 (with Roglic already injured at this point) broke and over confident Pogacar on stage.

2023 both Pogacar and Vingegaard were clearly better and that's the trend.

The thing with Roglic is even if he can reach a level that most of the peloton can't reach (see stage 19 here or the stage 20 TT at the Giro last year), he can't do it every day like Pogacar and Vingegaard can when fully fit.
