Presume these DNS's are due to the teams following their own protocols of LFTs rather than the rest day PCRs. Do we know if the PCR "threshold" stuff is in place for the Vuelta as was the case for the Tour?

Shame that it is still impacting like this, but feels like a necessary precaution and I'm sure the riders want their future careers as best protected from a long term illness as they can be too.

My understanding is the TDF is following the same protocol as the TDF.

It's possible someone was below threshold on rest day but I'd presume they'd need to be monitored to ensure they didn't get worse so could abandon later of they did?

Before the Vuelta, I’m not sure it was obvious that Bennett was the best sprinter.

Larkim, in the case of Bennett’s DNS, there was a report that it was an antigen test from the team that morning. The announcement came shortly before the start of the TT I think, probably to the annoyance of Pederson who wasn’t told, so had no need to go all out, especially before today’s potential sprint finish.

There's no green jersey points in the TT or at least there isn't normally so no effect on Pedersen.

Bennett wasn't obviously the best sprinter here pre race but he has been since the race has been going which is what matters. He had the pedigree to be expected to work things out eventually, it's not like he's past his prime.

Looks like I'm incorrect re green jersey points in TT.

I'd assume that too ;-)

(I know what you meant!)

How far down do points go? I thought it would only be to 20th or around that so seems a wasted effort if that's correct.

He was only just less than a minute outside the top 15 on a 35min TT so I suppose he thought points were in his reach, even if in the end he didn't get any.
