I get a profound feeling of frailty, stiffness, weakness and uncoordinated these days. I remember feeling bomb proof, robust, unstoppable - but that’s long gone.

Still reckon I could go near 10 hours for an Ironman, 4 hours for 100 miles TT, but reckon the stand alone marathon performance is deteriorating fast. I’ll find out Boston (Lincs) in April, be delighted with 3:20-3:25, used to knock out <3:10 with no specific

training.

Fighting hard to hold into what I can though!

Such sparse laurels as I possess are very thinly spread these days. ;)

When you think of something that qualifies for this thread, and then can't remember it (and the "something" definitely wasn't memory-related...)

I've given in and started wearing longs not shorts in runs when it's minus degrees. Long socks and 2-in-1 shorts do quite nicely, but it's more the thought that, if I had a fall in the forest and had to call for help, people would say, what was that old man thinking, running in shorts in the depth of winter.

So it's more a case of acting old because people expect it and give me leeway for it. If people are giving away free leeway, why argue.

Going with my son to watch the James Bond film this evening, and working out that it's 40 years since I last saw one.

Pointing out to my daughter that she's only half a generation younger than job advertisements offering 5' an hour for men and 3'6d an hour for women for the same job being normal.
