Chad le Clos carried the flag for SA. I’d love to hear his dad Bert’s thoughts on that

I'm such a big kid, every time they do a reveal of the rings it gives me chills. Love the Olympics.
Those drones are pretty incredible.

Agree drones were amazing.

Having said that, opening with Imagine is a bit painting by numbers isn't it. I'm sure they'll get more creative later on.

One of my biggest disappointments about London was that when you were in the Park you couldn't see the Olympic flame unless you were in the stadium itself. Looks like Japan has gone down the same route, though maybe they'll move it. I like the idea that the flame is a visible symbol to everyone that is there (within reason!).

Not sure about Paris (2024), but the LA Memorial Coliseum (2028) still has the large chimney-shaped flame holder at the more open end. That is unless they are planning something different or a new stadium altogether.

After all that was said and portrayed at the opening ceremony about being among equals, unity and solidarity, we already have an Algerian judoka withdrawing after finding out that he would be up against an Israeli in the next round.
