The mundane thread is one of the most popular on fetch. The exciting thread, not so much. I figure there is room for a middle ground of things that aren't mundane or exciting but pleasing none the less. Like chocolate and Guinness cake. Or this sunrise on my morning walk

It was tremendous. Much denser than regular cake and had smarties on top. Good innovation in the baked goods sector

Smarties, eh? That's playing fast and loose with Nigella's recipe

I didn't realise it was a nigella thing. The smarties definitely add something

In the spirit of this thread - I was having my mundane journey home last night on the bus and the driver pulled up at a stop and switched off the engine. It being half-term, he didn't want to get ahead of timetable. The lights went out on the bus - I was on the top deck. When we started again, he forgot to switch the lights on again for a couple of miles. It was great in the gathering dusk to be able to see out of the bus. I really enjoyed just looking out at the sunset.

I do like watching a sunrise or sunset on public transport. Recently it is a train journey to work but I should get sunsets on the way home soon

Taking the bus to and from work is great during half term. There's no bun fight for seats and hardly any traffic on the road.

We are having chicken and mushroom pie for tea. If it was steak and ale it would go into 'exciting', if it were meat and potato 'mundane'.
