Sioux - mr. uniqua and I are doing the wrexham half after all. I might end up saying "sod it" and race the thing, Draycote ultra the next week or no.
whether i'm up to a sub 1:40 or not I don't know, but, hey, I might get a bara brith out of it.....

hmmm. I keep saying I'll just run it comfortably - but come on, when you're lined up in a race, how can you help but put a bit of effort in. What's a sub 1:40 anyway? 7:30ish miles? I can do that.

You should be close to do sub 1:40 with your ultra endurance and speed - (close to 20mins for 5km?) My first half was 1:37, and I was hitting 5k around 20:00 - 20:40 ish, also was running less than now.
Is Draycote the Sunday after? You could always have a couple of days off (to eat cake and carbo load :))

yep, Draycote's on the 22nd.
The last 5k I did was 21mins, but that was pre-last pregnancy.
still, even if I don't break 1:40, it doesn't matter, I'll just get it next time. Even when I get a crap time, I still enjoy completeing a race, there's such a nice feeling of achievement and a desire to get even faster..
