Took up running back in 2004 after losing 7 stone. Some of it was baby-weight but most of it was probably cake-weight. My best friend told me that, since I was turning 30 there wasn't much point in trying to lose weight. Three months later I ran Abingdon (very badly) and I've run ever since. I'm a teacher, artist and writer when i'm not out running. I've just lost the 5 stone I gained having my son and have smashed the 4hr marathon. Next stop, a 3:30. I also need to beat my 1:41 half fairly soon. Most days I train with a running pram which is great resistance work. A 9-min mile easily becomes a 7-min mile on those rare days I run sans pram. I'm an ex-bulimic and still have a few issues with food although running is a pretty good cure-all. Oh, and I talk too much.....
