Given the time some 310s seem to last, don;t be too sure ;-)

One day Garmin will release a new edition watch with all the bugs ironed out, unlike the original 310s, 910s and pretty much every Fenix. By then though, we'll all probably had GPS implants that are permanently connected to interplanetarynetwork and it'll all be irrelevant.

My 310 is still my backup watch. So much to like about it. Pity the navigation is so flaky.

:-) Actually the Fenix does upload superbly - wifi upload to Connect as soon as you walk throgh the door, transfer into Fetch, strava and MFP, all without having to lift a finger.

It'd be a fantastic piece of kit ... if it could measure distance accurately. Surely not too much to ask?

Exactly. It's crazy that this is a problem. Almost everything else about it is great.

"working towards validating a fix" doesn't exactly sound like it's going to be out this week, does it?

Wrote my first ConnectIQ app. It's a widget which gets the GPS location, then does API calls through the phone to get your elevation and sea level pressure. Handy for checking your elevation calibration.

Would you guys recommend the Fenix then? I am thinking of getting a watch - I want it to track running/cycling and swimming but I want it to be good up in the hills when trail running/hill walking.

This sounds perfect but I am a bit worried about some of the reviews I read, as a few have been pretty bad but I can't tell how much they are exaggerating for the Internet as they mostly seem to be talking about the poor GPS accuracy. How bad is it really?

To be fair I probably don't need anything that amazing as I'm not exactly a top end athlete but I do rather like my gadgets - is there anything watch that folk would recommend?
