I take it they're still a work in progress just now? Me and Dvorak have created (virtually) identical miles from the end of Stirling parkrun but neither of us can "sign" the others route. Or does it only work if you run the route after the mile has been created? |

@riggsy - you have to run them the right way, but I guess there's nothing to stop you creating the reverse mile if you think it's noteworthy. @Gobi - yes, they'll work on the bike. At present, there's a little red (run) or green (bike) line on the left side of the leaderboard that indicates the sport - I will make that a bit more obvious. @IanS - literally everything on the site is a work in progress But to answer your query, creating a mile doesn't automatically trigger a retrospective search for matches. It's possible I could do this at some point in the future for those that are interested, but it might burn the server right now if I did that every time a new mile gets added |

If you explore for some miles using the map ( say you're going visiting somewhere new ), hopefully there'll be a few miles that you will then want to check out, and you click on one. If you want to see others that were also close by and click on "View all fetch miles" it takes you back to the main map, but centered back at your home location rather than where you were and you have to re-navigate to the new location. Could you possibly introduce a "sticky" back button that takes you back to where you were on the main map to save having to re-navigate ( or maybe you considered this and thought people would generally want to go back to home location ) ? As this is a new "thing" is design still fluid enough that can we suggest amendments in here, or should they be raised as feature requests ? |

Feel free to shout out, either here or in my blog. When I stop responding, that's when it's time to make a feature request

Sigh
Hi Ian - um & I have been discussing this over on the feature feature thread, and I've added some suggestions using the usual voting page. fetcheveryone.com/viewtopic.php?id=60881 I've managed to add a pic by inserting a picture code into the description, but it would be nice if there were a separate field for that. Also, when creating a mile from an existing training entry (presumably the most common way), can it at least credit that training entry as a 'visit'? Finally - working on the assumption that a mile will either be fast, challenging or scenic, it would be good if we can have the elevation shown, just like it is on routes (as each mile is in effect also a route, although I'm sure it's probably completely different coding!) |

um
Ian - firstly, great innovation and idea (although I susect it's been a long time coming) (given the map change form Google, route matching etc). I do like the revised mile slider and display. However - I find clicking on the miles difficult (laptop + monitor, firefox). Most of the time the map just zooms in rather than opens the mile. Is it just me, or is their a knack to it? or could the hot spot/zone be increased a bit? And as per Sigh, maybe elevation chart and hill score type thing? The retrospective search for when the server's slacking and needs a bit of workout sounds a good idea. Maybe an opt in by user? Although it would need repeating as new miles get entered. |

@um - I found that a double click zooms in, and when you're zoomed in enough, a single click will launch the mile. Not intuitive though.

@Sigh - it should be crediting the run that you built the mile from. There are 201 miles, and there are currently 17 that are left uncredited. Could you let me know the ID of the training entry that you built your Culver Down mile from, please? The dedicated image and elevation graph are definitely on my radar. @um - I am pondering on how to make the clickable area a bit larger. |

Here it is, Ian: fetcheveryone.com/t-16312122 Thanks! (Still not credited on the mile) |

Sigh - I've found the bug My algorithm was grabbing the ten checkpoints that define the mile, but crucially, it wasn't grabbing them in order I've put your run through the churn again, and this time it's matched it. I am now reprocessing all the other miles that didn't have any times associated with them, so I can hopefully credit their owners with a visit.
