Weird - in the first effort above I copied JK's cheat sheet on the duck thread - doesn't work. Does italics<i\> work?

Could anyone advise me on turning these damn things off please? I knew I didn't like them, not because they're new but because they're visually clutter-y. And annoying.;-)

I think it's < i> word < /i > without spaces.
