No, luckily not the white sofa Columba!

We watched Grand Designs. These houses, when finished, might be 'amazing' and 'extraordinary' but never look very homely or comfortable IMO. A 4 metre long concrete topped island in the kitchen? A dark ('gloomy' - Kevin McCloud) hobbit hole for the family? No curtains on any of the windows? No thanks, especially not for £1.2 million :-0

Yup, Fargo's an excellent movie. Loved the bit late on where Marge is sorting things out and shaking her head in disbelief at what the criminals have got up to - we tend to take movie violence as slightly cartoonishly normal, and seeing it through her eyes denormalises it again. (Though the wood chipper was kind of over the top my most standards, to be fair. Spoilers, but it did come out in 1996).

I have replaced the batteries in the TV remote.

The old ones were flat, so it wasn't working.
