It heats less water (combination of lower temperature and less water cycles, I think), which saves power relative to the extra spins of the drum.

Lip Gloss
I use a quick wash ( 30 minutes ) for most things then a longer hotter wash (60 minutes ) for whites or towels. Like B says nothing is that dirty these days without kids in the house.
I find my eco ones and the eco one on the dishwasher take far too long.

When we replaced our washing machine we were advised to do a 60 wash about once a month to kill off bacteria. I do use the eco wash overnight as I'm not then fussed how long it takes.

TBH I put it on the eco wash cos it will finish after I’m asleep, and then I won’t have to worry about getting the washing out till tomorrow...
