Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

I'm in .B.'s boat. Been using varifocal contacts recently. For someone with atrociously short sight plus loss of accommodation, they're great - can do most things without even needing reading glasses.

What sort are they Badger? I tried two different sorts:
1) you wear a short-sighted one in one eye and a long-sighted one in the other eye. You'll get used to it, I was told. I didn't - it gave me crashing headaches.
2) you wear actual varifocal lenses with a shortsighted bit in the middle an long-sighted on the outside. With my prescription these were very thick and I found them too uncomfortable.

Hubby has just arrive home with his new varifocals

I'm waiting for my appointment to have my varifocal contacts fitted ( I actually have normal distance vision but can't read my garmin without reading specs.... and can't run with reading specs on)

Actual varifocals, though the exact detail of how it works might be a bit different from what you described there. My prescription is about -6 left and -9 right, and if anything I find them more comfortable than the lenses I was using previously. It's not quite night and day, but both close and distant things are a little sharper (because he'd knocked a little bit off the prescription so my close vision wouldn't be so compromised with the non-varifocals).

I have replaced the batteries in the TV remote.

The old ones were flat, so it wasn't working.
