I would plant it. Give it a good feed and drink, i.e. mulch it, and prune the dead material out of it.

You could probably prune it hard back to a few spread out stems for shaping. They are tough as old boots once established, I often hack mine back.

Anyone know where I can get a thing on castors, on which to place a tub 18" in diameter in which I intend to plant a brown Turkey fig tree? I can scarcely lift the tub empty, so I certainly need it on castors.
