Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

I read that as "red lobster" WS... (and no I've never been nor eaten lobster).

My lawn has buttercups, daisies, clover and other stuff in it.

Are there specific seeds I should look for to turn my lawn a bit more floral but still being able to cut it every three or four weeks? Clover I guess (there's plenty of white clover already, and daisies of course) - anything else?

Self-heal, maybe lady's bedstraw, birds foot trefoil or maybe meadow vetchling? Thyme?

Depends on how dry your lawn is, and how acid.

I'm about to go and mow my ecological desert. :-)
(It's not, BTW. Too much random vegetation for that!)

And pick some raspberries and courgettes. We probably won't eat them in the same dish.

I have a Gunnera!

I have always wanted one but either didn't have the space or it didn't make sense to have one. Now that I have a pond, I have bought one and put it near it :)

The only place I've seen gunneras is in the gardens of Stately Homes, - or places which once were Stately Homes.

I have a Gunnera too, but it is very small and sulky. Not sure if it is going to survive, to be honest.

I have one too, I love it but my daughter recons its a dangerous Triffid!!

Make sure you protect it from frost, I protect mine over winter with a good protective layer of straw and a waterproof top covering and in spring always cover with fleece overnight or the leaves die. Its so worth the effort though. :)

I knew it was a good idea to keep the off cuts of the pond liner and underlay :) fr the Gunnera! Mine looks a bit small and sulky too, but I have planted it and givcen it two large watering cans of water.
