Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

Squirrels like camellia buds? I guess ours never venture round the front garden then. I think some have fallen, I might give them a treat.

Fruit looking good outside, bushes and trees (except the apple, which annually gives quite a good impression of having died) coming into leaf. Signs of grown on my kiwi vine as well. Rhubarb very late in showing.

Bulbs: some crocuses and mini-daffs, big daffs quite behind, not quite out yet.

Want to mow front lawn, some growth, but too wet. Saw someone doing theirs on Monday, had mowing envy.

I need to cut my grass! I wanted to do it today, but ran out of time. I hope it stays dry the weekend. I also need to start cutting client's grass again...

I have ALL daffs out, even the wild ones are about to spring into flower and they are usually not out till april.

My first set of seeds have sprouted. Sweet peas and nasturtiums (edible), salad leaves, spinach and beetroot. I wonder how long I can keep them alive!

I'm having a greenhouse delivered tomorrow! Quite excited by the prospect. It's a mini one but bigger and much sturdier than either of the mini ones I've had previously. It'll probably take me all weekend to assemble the thing.

How exciting SK, are you succeeding in building it?

My apricot os flowering! facebook.com

And I have cut the grass, sorted the veg garden, as in took dead stuff away from the herb bed and weeded the rest and harvested some kale for tonights supper. I have also sorted my strawberries and started working on the Fibonacci garden (13 x 8 metres) and did lots of assorted other jobs, like getting the patio garden spring ready by getting rid of seed heads I leave for the birds over witnter etc etc

Sold a load of rhubarb to the village shop :) Do tell me this is not exactly normal for this time of year: facebook.com

Did not quite get as much done as I wanted to, because I was driven inside by rain. Now contemplating either a soak in the bath and supper, or a quick hour in the solar shed to start preparing seed trays and spuds for chitting...

I was going to have a go yesterday but the wet weather scuppered that plan! It's beautiful here today though so I'm going to start it at lunchtime.

Can I ask your advice please, gardeners of Fetch, on polytunnels.

We have an alotment and I've decided rather than a greenhouse to have a polytunnel. I'm reading up on them and trying to find one that's going to cope with strong wind. We don't get a lot of wind here but when it comes, it's strong; storm Doris destroyed our cold frame, and threw a large barbecue and garden table against the house!

Do any of you have experience of polytunnels? Or any advice you think might worth bearing in mind.

Thanks

I wish I had a polytunnel, can't help though.

Red, white and brown onions looking good, Leeks coming on again, Broad Beans peaking through, and I think I see my first few Parsnips. Kale has gone mad, I could start a micro-greens business.

Peas, toms, peppers look a bit desparate. Sunflowers got raided by a mouse so re-seeded and brought them indoors.

Daffs hardly flowered, they did last year, they will need re-siting. Hyacinths look great, Alliums coming through.

I think my pride and joy will be two acers. I got them last year knocked down to £1 each from BQ, eventually they will grow into small trees (I have them in large pots), Autumn they will be bright red and bright yellow. If they work out, I will get two more from the same place.
