Sounds good PAJ.

Definitely would be too much shoe for me based on how the Rivera feels.

Yeah for sure, although it feels nimble it's still in the max cushion zone so north of the Rivera definitely veering away from what works for you.

The Rivera was a great option to have for me today. Ran an XC race yesterday so a bit more protection was nice to have. Ran 5 miles to watch the junior XC races, a bit of running around to support (8 races in total), then 5 miles back. The Rivera definitely has a place in my rotation, the question is how wide a place it takes.

Nice SPR. How did XC go? I ran a trail half yesterday (Lone Peak 4.5 were šŸ‘šŸ‘), ran today in Torin 5. It's going to be an Altra-heavy couple of months I reckon!

XC went ok. I want to be quite a bit further up and closer to some clubmates by the end of the season but I had a long track season and I'd tailed off a bit form wise by the time of the road relays (end Sept/ early Oct) so knew I wouldn't be sharp at this one. First XC for 23 months which also means it's my longest race for 23 months so the first one was needed as a reminder of how they feel.

How was your trail HM?

Nice. Was actually a XC fixture today that is part of my local league (Gwent League in South Wales), would have liked to have got involved but two events back to back days probably wouldn't have been wise. Trail half went well thanks, second time I'd done this course and was about 5 mins quicker than 2019 (though the first one was walking hills/with pack in prep for an ultra so not the fairest comparison). Decent conditions, I'm strong on the downhills but poor on the ups so I figure some focus on that in the coming year will give me a bit more consistency on any course that has a lot of climbs. Shoes were perfect, feet came out in great condition and body felt fresh enough for 70ish minutes very easy running today.

PAJ, that would have been pretty tough. Sounds like a good race day and also like the Torins will be great for recovery runs.

Trailtalons worked well for me on an Ultra yesterday with surfaces of road, trail, mud, water and broken brick . Ploughing through puddles was a delight to cool off my feet and they drained so quickly.

Anyone here tried or indeed uses Luna sandals? Iā€™m seriously considering getting some.

Also anyone imported any trainers/shoes from USA? Debating on buying over there as much cheaper than UK even with estimated import duty. TIA
