I used them in the 1.5s for a while and they stayed in place. I didn't end up using them in the 2.5 in the end, there's a ridge in the shoe which the standard insole covers but the Vivo one doesn't. Luckily it feels like I've gotten used to the firmness of the 2.5 now.

Trailtalons arrived. They fit well and can't see me having any issues running in them given I've run in F-lites and X-talons before. Certainly should be perfect for trails that aren't appropriate for the X-talon 190.
The extra forefoot room in these vs the f-lites/ x-talons is welcome. No squeezing in the forefoot at all.

Can also see how they would work as a road shoe as the lugs are fairly flat and I'd guess it would improve as they wore out.

Sounds promising.
Just keep an eye on the mesh around the toe area, especially where it flexes. It has a habit of splitting and requiring repairing.

Wore the Trailtalons in Cannock chase last week and they were fine. There were times when my feet wanted a bit more protection from stones but I did more than 18 miles in my first outing in them so no major issues really. The wanting more protection thing is just not used to running on that type of surface.
Escalante 2.5 still feel like not quite the shoe for me (too firm for a general shoe for me) but seem to work ok for the 'fast' side of easy. Going to check out the Rivera as that is supposed to be less firm. Wore the Kayenta for a fartlek session yesterday and it's great how the work perfectly and just disappear on your feet. Shame they are discontinued.
