Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

I need to knock the gluten on the head for a while so until MrsHL makes a batch of gut-friendly pastry, I can n olonder add to our total.

I could say I'm gutted, but...

Spent the morning wrapping presents and listening to Vernon Kay on the radio. He was waxing lyrical about the mince pies one of the team had brought in - mentioning that the pastry had orange in it and there was a small dollop of sweetened cream cheese on top of the mincemeat, under the pastry lid.

I recognised that description - the recipe is from a 40-year-old cookbook, Cooking for Christmas by Josceline Dimbleby that Sainsbury's published. My edition is from 1981, cost 75p and is much be-splattered :-) I can confirm that the mince pies are second to none and I'll be making a batch this weekend. I'm not going to bother with commercial ones this year.
