The previous occupants of my new house had a cat. The carpet is scratched up at every doorway. My cat never did it but he was kept in the kitchen at night.

Feed them dry food so that there's always something available and they don't have any need to wake you up.

Can’t do that with ours - I don’t know if having two makes them competitive, or if it’s something about their lives before we got them, but any food put down gets eaten immediately. They’d end up circular.

Jasper can have full bowls of food, but still feels the need to wake me up at silly o’clock

I always used an automatic cat feeder and I had a lockable bin. Please don’t use a water pistol you will just make them scared of you

Random question, Lennox is being kept indoors until we work out if she's been spayed or not. My friend who has several house cats says i'll need to trim her claws? I'm still doing a daily battle with ear drops... the thought of a moggy pedicure fills me with dread. Does anyone do this, manage it?

I do Mr Whiskers' claws and it's dead easy. Unicorn moved in last night and needs her claws doing but have had no success so far. It's like wrestling a lion.

I used to have to wait until Maximus was asleep. Really, REALLY, deeply asleep and then do as many as I could with my nail clippers before he woke up.

Bonnie does her own using a combination of scratch post, rugs and, weirdly, biting her nails.

Thanks... will check out youtube. She does have a cmscratching post which she does use. She is not going to like this. Although she no longer struggles, I am guilt tripped everytime I put the ear drops in. She cowers from me for an hour or so after. 😳
