I'm with you becca, (but obviously not re the 70 laps ;-) ). I love a donkey but haven't seen them during Maravan. We probably had our blinkers on!

They are in a field as you come off the golf course. They have been there most of this summer

The yellow mark on the pic below shows were they are

Excellent. I like having things to watch out for on each lap. The first year I had to make do with a squashed traffic cone and a little pink toy boat.

They used to live in the little field by the hurdle gate and the right turn onto the grass bank, but moved to the corner of the golf course a little while ago, although I don't know if that's only in season and whether they go back to Mr Nuttall's farm once the tourists have gone home. There's a lot less security personnel on site after this weekend.

I was surprised to see them driving the little train around on Saturday (not the seafront one, the Thorpe Park one), and on one particular pass there was even a couple of passengers in it. Not sure if they were trying to empty the tank of petrol, or whether they were still running it to get guests around the park.

It shouldn't be there next weekend.

"Them" in paragraph 2 being Thorpe Park staff, and not donkeys. The donkeys are great, but I don't rate their driving skills.

Seeing donkeys driving road trains is probably more of an ultra thing than a marathon thing I reckon

Can’t remember seeing the donkeys on Sunday but it was dark when I got there

I've put race instructions and the like on Social Media.

I'll try to get an email out tonight or tomorrow, but in the absence thereof:

Race day for me. Why does a marathon always seem a ages away when you start training for it and then suddenly it race day (a bit like Christmas Day).
Hope everyone is fit and ready to go. Thanks to DeeGee for organising this event and good luck to everyone taking part.
