Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch
or for an ad-free Fetcheveryone experience!

Met up with a friend today for coffee (Shades, if anyone here knows her from the marathon circuit) and took this.

Temper Way is a short trail (18 miles), and LDWA has this about it: “Named after the Templer family who constructed the Stover Canal and Tramway to bring granite quarried at Haytor on Dartmoor to the coast at Teignmouth, the Way provides interest for ecological reasons as well as for the locks and buildings”.

You're not far from me, Big G! :-)

I ran the section from Hay Tor to Newton Abbot last year, but have never done the lower section. Here's a sign from higher up with the granite railway in the background.

Small world, Synge. Have you done the Haytor Heller race, in recent years? If so, I may well have seen you there without realising - I'm chief marshal for that race. We (Teignbridge Trotters) cancelled this year obviously, but it was supposed to take place last Saturday.

I've done all of the path at one time or another, although the bit from Newton Abbot onto Teignmouth is along the shore of the estuary so needs to be done at low tide. It's quite nice though and a stop at Coombe Cellars is recommended for a nice view.

And this is one of the route markers, although the waymarking on the route is pretty poor/non-existent in many places. Find your way across this peatbog, see you in a few hours kind of thing.
