Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

I'm going to do this whole thing as a deathmatch next year when I get access to a music streaming service - an album I know vs an album I don't know for every year of my life

:-) I've taken all the main recommendations from the thread where it's an artist I don't have plus some I remember from articles and friends and I'll put them against my current favourite album from that year or an album by an artist I know or just the best selling that year if all else fails. there's a good 3 months prep involved! Taking recommendations for 1995, 1996, 1998, 1999, 2004, 2006-2009, 2011. Annoyingly there's quite a few double ups so there may be some heats required for some years :-)

That's a really interesting take on it Seren. I'm still stuck in the 80s so I don't have any recommendations for your missing years yet. I've just blogged Nick Cave for 1985 :-)

Stuck in the 80's sounds like a good title for my autobiography if I ever write one ;)

Dvorak
1999 - The Magnetic Fields - 69 Love Songs. Sprawling triple CD set of, yes, 69 love songs.

If you think you'd like a laconic home keyboard ballad titled "Let's Pretend We're Bunny Rabbits", this is the album for you.

"And when we've had a couple a beers
We'll put on bunny suits
I long to nibble your ears
And do as bunnies do"

Funnily enough Dvorak I heard of that album for the first time last Sunday and now you've mentioned also. Will have to give it a listen.

Thank you Derby Tup that's most entertaining they'll be up against blur 13 or supergrass or happy Mondays greatest hits :-)
