I love my Kinvara but after 250 miles they have worn through to a hole by the little toe on both shoes. shame really because they are possibly the best shoes I have ever owned.
I do have wide hobbit feet though, people with *normal* feet may be ok.

Try the Brooks Pure range, if they're on the shelf at the 'Proper Running shop' you visit.
Adidas Boston (or Adios) might suit, if you don't have wide feet (I just find Adidas oddly narrower fit than everything else).

If you're looking for lightweight, neutral, bit of cushioning, Saucony Ride 7 perhaps? I love my Ride 6 which has an 8mm drop. I have Kinvara TR for off road, also great.
Not found lighter, more comfy shoes than Saucony personally

I have had terrible problems with my feet in the past and went from wearing Nike trainers for over pronaters think structure triax to nike pegasus. Had no problem with the pegasus ones but I don't like the latest version, tried Sketchers go run which are really light and have had no problems, they are similar to Nike frees.

FR, I don't even need to go to Keswick I'm currently sitting less than two miles by road from the actual New Balance factory in Flimby and it's got a huge factory shop with a treadmill and everything. But I've never had a pair of NB running shoes that I've liked much. Their walking shoes are another matter, I love those.

I'm liking New Balance at the moment.
The 980 Freshfoam, are 4mm, 280g for mens, so lighter for womens, and nice cushioning.
If wanting a bit more than 4mm, then the 1080v4 is 8mm, not got this one, but gets great reviews as a neutral shoe with decent cushioning.

The NB numbering is pretty confusing.
I think it breaks down as : x60 and x70 are stability, x80 and x90 are neutral/cushioning, x10 are trail, then completely different for racing flats and others.
So you want an x80 or x90 I think.

it seems a bit rude not try on some NB shoes given they are almost next door I love my Brooks Pure Grit, and they are dirt cheap on sportsshoes.com. I like Sauconys too, Sauconys and Brooks both seem to like my feet whereas other brands hate them.
