No money back if he holds it this year? Just the option for 100 runners to do 50?

How was anyone wrong about him FR? He's still procrastinating and saying he can wait until July. So in effect he's still encouraging people to take the wrong actions i.e try to continue to train for it or run undertrained. Hopefully before long somebody like the LDNP or the owners of the facilities he's hoping to use will make the decision for him.

“ In the coming weeks ahead, there is a high likelihood that the COVID-19 situation will get significantly worse and it may become evidently clear that the event simply can't go ahead “ no shit Sherlock

Looks that way Jacdaw. An interesting contrast is the Val d'Aran by UTMB race that I'm entered for in Spain. Though they haven't cancelled the race yet (final decision at the end of this month) they have already said that everyone will be offered the opportunity to defer to 2021 whether or not the race happens this year (as well as offering the opportunity to drop down to a shorter race if the races happen).

Today's email was more realistic than previous, and entry carried to next year is good - but I agree he's still encouraging continuing to train at maybe more than the "ticking over" level that (I take as what) we're being advised to do. To maybe visit the fells for training as soon as we're "allowed" to and then for 100s of poorly trained - like me especially! to go wandering around the LD, in whatever the weather decides to be for 24 hrs or so.
I understand that he's seeing all the positivity on Facebook and not wanting to disappoint anyone - but there needs to be more decisiveness at this point.

From my point of view, he has almost exactly taken the stance advocated by flanker, a few pages back. But then what do I know. I'm not in the 'club'?

I'm just talking from the POV of someone who knows she's over-reaching to attempt the 50 and what training I am missing and will continue to miss for sometime
being able to walk 25-30 miles around the home counties on no training is one thing - I have no illusions that that translates to betting around the 50 safely - especially if the weather is less than friendly
