Now me, I'm more than an average muncher (no rudeness intended) and I found the food at the checkpoints last year to be excellent, no shortage of stuff to stuff in your mouth. I mean how much food can one person consume and still feel able to function properly without needing a lie down LOL. Even me. The list is very detailed so if worried work out what you think you'll need where, and supplement accordingly, and in relation to any specific needs you may have, without weighing yourself down with food. But as I said I couldn't fault the choices at all.

From feedback I've heard the food provided for the 50 is far better than the 100 (based on previous years).

I've heard nothing from them at all, unless it was ages ago. Just messaged them via the Contact Us bit on the website. It would be the weekend, might not even get read until Monday...

Food gets better the further you get into the event. I've not been very impressed with the food in the first 50 the last two times out. Largely just been sweet stuff, cake and flapjacks etc, and being towards (i.e.at) the back of the field there has been little left. Last year at Buttermere we had the choice of dry bread rolls or nothing. I'll be carrying a fair bit with me; it may weigh me down but at least I'll be fuelled.

Good to know, Flanker. By the way, I read (what I think was) your 2011 UTLD blog the other day and found it extremely helpful. That idea that I could DNF out of sheer tiredness due to lack of sleep and a slow start has really made me rethink my approach to the race.

still only 50/50 i'll run but i had a bit of time on the course this weekend. Walked buttermere to braithwaite and the trail around Gowbarrow. Both were incredibly dry considering all the rain.
