I will be there at the 100 start also. I made the decision a few weeks back not to run the race, but of course I will be cheering Bobs and everyone else at the start.

Fifth time in a row for Lakeland and looking forward to next weekend. Despire Mark (RD)'s sage advice to not walk around the campsite in Coniston saying that one is *only* doing the 50, ... I'm only doing the 50.
I reckon if you've survived the 100 and are just heading back for the fun run, that's allowed. But normal people, please note that the 50 is still a bonkers undertaking (I think there are still a few normal people here, somewhere).

50 will be fine, I do hope to attempt the 100 at some point though. Might not be saying that after Saturday!
Looking forward to seeing you Andy, and everyone else

I think the 50 is a great day out and very achievable with its generous cut-off. I sort of wish I'd entered it myself rather than taking a gamble on being well enough to do the 100. It's going to be blinking hot, please do remember the sunblock and salt tablets. I shall be at Dalemain to see you start and give you a cheer.

(some forecasts are showing fresher and wetter for Saturday - it's bound to get cold and wet - I'm camping )
I hope it's cooler for you all than it is here at the moment!

The 50 is still the hardest event I've ever completed.

It's an awesome event, whether the 50 or the 100. Not that I've been good enough to complete the 100, three DNFs, but did get further every time.
Have a great day or day(s) out.
And if you hear of any last minutes opportunities to help out on the marshalling front, I'm available all weekend.

Has anyone been taking a good look at the .gpx files provided on the website? They're a bit crap. Don't misunderstand me, they will do the job adequately and lead you to the end but there's several bits where you can tell there have been manual corrections, gone on the wrong side of walls, errors that aren't corrected, inconsistent sample rates. For a race of this magnitude I'd have expected better.

NE, (unfortunately) I've recce'd the route so many times I don't even reference the map or detailed notes.
