Yay Mrs J (sorry you are unable to run RM).
Mrs J, last year I am sure that there were people there at the race HQ by the desk where they were processing transfers, offering numbers spare. I saw Beejay there and he said nobody took his number despite him having it there to offer out (he was supporting having opted not to run). I guess people don't turn up to race unless they have a number already. So what I'm saying is risky, but may be worth you both being ready to run just in case you can acquire a 2nd place on Sunday morning (but accepting that you may not) if you can't get hold of one before.
