I love that place Mandy - Blue Lagoon we call it, or Aberieddy Bay.

I have only done paddleboarding on the sea once and it was pretty flat but we did manage to stand - I found it was really tiring for my ankles and knees keeping the balance - we dropped down to knees when going round headlands were it was a little more bumpy.

I guess it's just a matter of practice - the more you try to do it, the more confident you will get. Just get on your feet in a flat calm area and try to stay on your feet as you go further out and it starts to get bumpy. Drop down to your knees when you get too wobbly?

I was watching a couple of blokes surfing on SUPs last week. I was chatting to one of them and he had a “proper” board (in that it doesn’t pack down and needs to be carried on roof rack) so he was being a bit sniffy about his mate who only had an inflatable SUP.

I think his main point was that if you want to surf properly you’re best to have a surfboard-style SUP. Nearly everyone I know that SUPs has an inflatable and it doesn’t seem to be holding them back much.

Yes of course Blue Lagoon, not cove. I knew it was Aber-something but most of the beaches we visited were Aber-something lol.

Was very lucky whilst in the lagoon as I was talking to a lady paddle boarding asking for tips, and she was an instructor and spent 10 to 15 mins with me and had me standing and gave me some tips.

My grandson is great on the paddleboard, stood straight away - wish I had his confidence

Meanwhile another mate of mine has just taken up pack-rafting. Which is a bit like an inflatable canoe with its own bergen for carrying it to remote lochs.

Lovely Mandy. I love messing about on the water. Hoping to get out tonight with MrsS(rrr) to local loch again. Lovely day here just now too. Last Saturday by myself in the very strong winds was really tough. My shoulders (and core) were agony on Sun/Mon! :-) G
