Hurstbourne Tarrant Parish council has asked residents to stop leaving salacious books in their phone box library best response "I was in the queue for 20 minutes and when I got there all the good stuff was gone." |

Seems that The Times is closely following Maclennae & this thread. In the news today - thetimes.co.uk And also their editorial comment, if of interest The Times view on erotica in a phone box library: Phone Sex Things are getting steamy in a telephone box-turned-library in Hampshire There are certain phone booths in big cities, often near mainline railway stations, where you would not be shocked to see adverts for certain services. You would not expect, however, to come across detailed descriptions of the pleasures (or sins, depending on your point of view) of the flesh in a disused telephone box in deepest Hampshire. That is nevertheless what has been happening in the pretty village of Hurstbourne Tarrant. Persons unknown have been leaving copies of “salacious adult literature” in the booth, which is the location for the local community library. The parish council has now taken to pleading with the distributor of what schoolboys of an earlier age used to call “mucky books”, now termed “erotic fiction”, to desist. The growth of community libraries is a commendable example of voluntary efforts to foster not only an appreciation of reading, but also improve neighbourliness. Many villages and small towns have had their libraries closed in recent years, the victims of funding cuts and technological change. Setting up a book-swap facility, often simply in a weatherproof case outside the pub or post office, is an excellent way of partially making good the loss. These tiny libraries provide a meeting point at which to congregate and chat. Nobody had foreseen a taste for the adventures of Katelyn, however, and her struggle “to resist her own animal urges”. Katelyn features in Hot Blooded, by Nancy Holder and Debbie Viguié, an obscure title surely now in line for a reprint. Other even racier volumes have already been spirited away by red-faced worthies. The converted phone box being situated not far from a school playground, fans of erotica are being encouraged to “find another outlet” to exchange their favourite examples of the genre. That would probably be for the best. |

Brilliant, um! It's going to be a proper kick-off when they find out who it is! This is also the village where one resident spent all day clearing up my hashing trail on the basis that it was a treasure hunt for dog thieves |

[Maclennane - That's brilliant! Definitely beats removing the plastic ties from lampposts, which has been keeping people busy round here 🤔].

[Maclennane -that has made me chuckle. Most amusing thing in my local group was some commenters being told their comments about the local travelling community was being monitored by the police and they needed to cease as this was hate speech. Posts deleted and then more emerged who were none the wiser ]

[There seem to be a spate of post where people leaving random sticks outside houses suggests either a burglary or dog theft is about to happen]

Fragile Do Not Bend
I found this gem amongst the comments on a post about the vaccine “well yes I should think it would matter. Different versions, different reactions. For example the AZ vaccine has been recalled in Ireland and parts of the UK due to severe unforeseen issues and side effects. I for one would not want AZ. After much research on Pfizer, they cannot be trusted so if I were to have it, I for one would want Oxford as it currently stands” The next reply was a facepalming avatar which probably spoke for everyone reading that. |
