well, I suppose the miles are going in, but I've been lacking focus or motivation in my training. Not having my usual big summer A race has made to hard to focus not he training and even harder to focus on keeping the weight down :-(

Maybe once I get Manchester/London out of the way I can focus on this and start to really target it.

Forgot to say thanks to _andy for his earlier comments. Thanks!

You're welcome mate! I get what you mean about focus though - after so many years it's hard to keep the same level of intensity year in, year out. Something about mezocycles and macrocycles, or simply CBA through a long winter sometimes. I am battling the pounds too, but feel that beer and chocolate are essential elements of my holistic training programme ;-)

A good benchmark for me over the years is a local trail race in Alloa, the Gartmorn 6, which was last Sunday, and looking at my times for that over recent years and how I then do in the Fling is a useful guide. Ok, the mileage is a bit less, but provided I have a half-decent mileage base, it's a good guide. So that gives me a slightly slower time than last year, but quicker than the previous year. A bit of luck and some dodgy number crunching says I should go for a 9:30 target on that basis.

I'm dreaming of a sub-9, but sub-10 is probably more realistic (and possibly still optimistic!)

I'd love a sub-11 but not a chance as my terrain training has been non existent.

Ticking along nicely at the moment but could probably do with some more longer runs... I probably lack a bit of endurance as I'm fairly new to ultras.
Hope all is well from the RD side of things and having no issues.

All being well, I'll see you at Milngavie :-)

I seem to have 2 more long runs. Not sure 52 miles of flat Tarmac will really help. Recovery might be tricky too. Oh well, lovely route for a stroll :-)

Really enjoying my running at the moment.
Looking to lower my PB this year :-)
