No, way too far for training events.
What are the benefits of the training events?

Not sure about benefits of the training weekends other than a recce of the course. Always nice to run in a large group of like minded runners and a good excuse for a weekend break

Yes, but if you've never done it before, there are bits that will come as a bit of a shock. Like that stretch around Inversnaid that is a bit not-runnable... Or Cow Poo Alley.

Yeah the weekends are really for like minded people to get together, share a few stories get drunk and spend some time on feet on the route.
STOOSH - I'll see you at the OakTree run towards the end of January, i'm a sucker for a run on the WHW just love it.

The lochside section can come as a bit of a shock, especially the ladder. It's a test of climbing skills in part, especially if you're short like me.
I loved the training weekends I went on back in 2009/10. If we didn't have the kids we'd have been on more. I recommend them.

lol flanker - depends on how many wrong turns you make
For me - any excuse to run on the whw - it's hard not to feel at home over there after walking the route a couple of times.

The training weekends for both fling and whwrace are just an excuse to go running on the route and are absolutely brilliant for that. Both are really extended eating and drinking sessions with a bit/lot of running thrown in too.
And with the Fling training weekends you get the chance to buy kit too, listen to folk talking about the race - although one of the speakers back in February was well dodgy and went on a bit.

Question: the consumption of caffeine has a profound positive effect on me! When would you start taking caffeine during the Highland Fling? I was thinking halfway? Rowardennan (sp)?
