Random Question - How much does climate effect HR? For example, in the colder winter months will HR be depressed and in the warmer summer months HR elevated?
BTW - Big thanks to IanM for the three links.

And another question....
If HR is effected by stress, could some runners get higher values co' they're stressing about the HR value?

FR - my experience is that in the warmer months, HR is higher. Physiologically this makes sense as you end up warmer - which raises your HR

Hey Ian, I didn't mean you mate. Far from it. I know your heart's in the right place.
OK, tonight was not a eureka moment for me but it was good:
Part of the reason I wasn't enjoying my running was the worry that I might have crap run after crap run, make no progress and get to pb hell - missing by a minute or so each time I raced. Another bad bit was so many runs that almost no matter what pace I did them at, just felt uncomfortable.
So as you might know I'm doing Hadd. That's time on feet and then a measure later to see if the maintained HR results in pace variation. Today was 1 hour on feet at 127 or below (which I think is below 60% for me).
The great thing now is that it's uber comfy. Which means I can get a chance to think about form instead of gnashing my teeth cos it's hurting so much. Form was a luxury that I couldn't be bothered with - I was too busy blowing out my a*se. I still get little HR spikes - sometimes even when I look at the HR monitor to check I'm in the zone. But it's much easier to control and tonight was 7 miles in 1.08.28. That's sub 10 at sub 60% which is encouraging.
Another thing. I used to look at better runners (the sub 40 min for 10Kers) and think that maybe they were just better at dealing with the pain of it all. Well that's baws. They're not. And HR is the evidence of that. So I content myself that I'm making the right progress with the right efforts and mainly because my runs are never over 147 (75%) I look forward to every one. And if that's not progress I don't know what is.

FR, I think any extremes of climate will affect HR.

Jeremy - with respect - you have never experienced struggling to keep your HR below 70%WHR at 12 min/mile!
So you don't have that experience!
What else do you base it on?
