Hendo,

""""""I would avoid taking Huff's bait ... you're all playing into his hands ... he's laughing all the way to the toilet..."""""""

I was refering to this comment. Not that running should be void of fun.

The Huff,

Because that his how you speak to everybody. As if they are stupid.

We are all basically savvy enough to have got the point about efficient running = lower HR by now. Yet you keep repeating it, and not just as a statement but by asking pointed questions as if you are talking to a class of special ed kids...

Seriously, we know that HR is effected by running efficiency. If you are starting HR training you notice it straight away. BUT if we want to change our running style we will go and talk about it on the Efficient Running thread because there are a lot of things to discuss about it, yes?

It just seems as if you don't think anyone is intelligent enough to link efficiency and HR on their own.

And it annoys people. Because people don't want to be preached to. Which is why there is a negative reaction to your posts. Does this make any sense to you at all?

I think The Huff does know this Roo ... but he gets so much attention on the forum by throwing in these one-liners about mechanic/efficiency that it's worth his while continuing with it.

Yes, I see your point. However, I am not actually preaching. I am sharing my training and experiences as well as my opinions to what is most important when it comes to HR training. I am fine with anyone who disagrees or agrees. I get annoyed and offended daily on here but I just forgive and forget:) I recommend you do the same.

About This Thread

Everything you need to know about training with a heart rate monitor. Remember the motto "I can maintain a fast pace over the race distance because I am an Endurance God". Mind the trap door....

Gobi lurks here, but for his advice you must first speak his name. Ask and you shall receive.

A quote:

"The area between the top of the aerobic threshold and anaerobic threshold is somewhat of a no mans land of fitness. It is a mix of aerobic and anaerobic states. For the amount of effort the athlete puts forth, not a whole lot of fitness is produced. It does not train the aerobic or anaerobic energy system to a high degree. This area does have its place in training; it is just not in base season. Unfortunately this area is where I find a lot of athletes spending the majority of their seasons, which retards aerobic development. The athletes heart rate shoots up to this zone with little power or speed being produced when it gets there." Matt Russ, US International Coach
