I use Time iClic - lots of play. Good for wonky knees - as indeed is Speedplay.
SPD-SL is the way to go if you *really* want to shag your knees, IME.

I had SPD-SL a long, long time ago - then Look Delta straight after which are similar but better. Not sure if the latter actually exist anymore.

Presumably some of this is about setup though? Standard SPD have got so much float that you only really have to worry about fore and aft position, whereas I guess the types with less play require expert input to get right?
