I've just seen the race times for Southampton CX. Given it's a 3 hour drive it's unlikely that we'll get there in time for the Vets races so have a good event and might see you after we arrive.

Sadly fatigue for both me and Mrs DB meant that the prospect of 6 hours in the car filled us both with dread. Hope those that were at Southampton had a good time.
We went for a walk in a local country park and found a round of the Welsh CX there. I knew tgey were using the park but thought it was last week. Saw a few friends and it seems like the females of the Backstedt family were wrapping up every race for which they were eligible.
150 entered in the senior race, good luck to the timekeepers sorting that lot out. Fabulous compared to the 24 that we saw one Boxing Day a good few years ago.

Yorkshire riders not at the nationals had a non-points race with all seniors and vets starting together. This have me a chance for a head to head with a clubmate I normally don't get to race. Good racing back and forth on quite a tricky slippy course, until I had two offs on the penultimate lap. The second one was amusing - infront of the commentator I got my foot stuck in the cleat trying to dismount for a sandpit, and just sprawled myself over the floor!
Lessons from today - need to learn to remount on both sides of bike and on cambers. Also need more boldness on descending across cambers.

Did I imagine it, or are disk brakes still banned by TLI next year? Doesn't worry me either way apart from that I dislike them aesthetically - just seems a bit out of step with pretty much everyone else.
