Dublin, Berlin, Boston, Belfast (yesterday), and Cardiff half (today) all cancelled recently...
There was a link in the email to a Q&A with the event director, in which she mentions the organisers of London, Manchester & Brighton marathons “have been in close contact”...

I’ve not heard anything from Huddersfield marathon organisers but obviously it’s not on due to England Athletics earlier decision. Still not heard anything about Solway Coastal Marathon in July , but probably down to Organisation.

Stockholm has just cancelled its rescheduled marathon, which was due to take place in early September. If even the Swedes aren't up for it, then it's not looking great for us. Admittedly I have long written off Manchester happening anyway.

At some point I need to commit to running again! Been only cycling for the last few weeks, but conscious that we're now in week 1 of any 18 week plan targetted at Manchester; I was only planning on 12 week P&D anyway, but would probably need 4 weeks easy running lead in to make that achievable, so a little light running back end of this week and early next week would be necessary.

Don't bother for the sake of Manchester is my advice. Do it for other reasons if you want, or not at all.
My revised plan is to start running more conscientiously in October in order that I can hit the ground running for a serious 18 week plan in Dec. Obviously if things start up a bit sooner I might do more over the summer but currently I'm not really up for it. I do fancy my chances at a sub-40 on the local 10k loop and aim to have a blast at that every 2 or 3 weeks, just to keep myself ticking over.

Agree that that looks like the route. Though I wouldn't want to find out 8 weeks out that Manchester is a go-er and hadn't put any miles in!

Agree with that, I'm happy to have made the decision long ago for a full year deferral as I don't really get on with autumn marathons even if I had thought it was likely to be on (which I didn't).

Sept 6th Great Manchester Run (rescheduled) now cancelled. If there was a desparate local desire to hold races, then that one might have been a sign of optimism for the October race. There really is next to no chance of Manchester mara taking place, is there?
