57.5 Degrees of Pain
I am getting intimidated by all these V50s getting PBs. I need to get training hard again.

I have no 'soft' PBs left so resigned to never PBing ever again. But not bothered. More interested in the process than the result.

Thanks RRR-Caz

57.5 - it was my 270 marathon - you would have thought I would have worked out how to do it sooner :-)

Easiest way to get PBs into your 50s is to take up a new sport in your mid-40s :-) But as FR says it's not all about the PBs, you have to enjoy the process.

Sounds like a lot of people had a great day out, which is good to hear. Were there any problems from the increased size of the event? Starting in waves is a great idea, I don't know why more big races don't do this.

I agree starting in waves was excellent and made enough space for us in the second wave when we left.

I don't think there were any major problems with more people but I would say there was a shortage of toilets at the actual start pens (not a problem for us gents with some convenient hedges, but I could see several very distressed looking ladies when faced with the size of the portaloo queue. I know these were not the main toilets, but anyone in the pens promptly would need them.

Also the trams seemed quite busy but did cope as far as I could tell.

Think 13600 or so finished so higher number of no shows than expected if really 20000 people signed up.

But no problems from where I was . The waves were essential.

They do need to order results by chip time in a wave start. Gun time is meaningless unless you were in pen A. But I was very impressed by the organisation. I'd hope the Metro can cope if they can manage the football crowds.
