pedro - off the top of my head the number of marathon finishers (i.e. excluding DNSs, DNFs & relay runners) are:- 2012 - 4,056 2013 - 5,019 2014 - 5,911 2015 - 7,849
This year there was also 113 4-person relay teams and 132 half-and-half relay pairs, so just short of 8.5k competitors (I'm not checking the other years).
I'd say I'm more intrigued by course changes than necessarily looking forward to them. More than anything, I hope they stay loyal to the local communities who have supported the race so well for the past four years.
The only thing I think they need to work are the start pens, I saw the 3:30 pacer have to push past several people who should not have started that far forward, you could clearly see their pen colour and it didn't belong in the sub 3:00/3:30 pens.
I liked the course as a whole and the local support was fantastic, they must keep that.
Regarding comments on a Liverpool marathon, I think the council hope the Rock n Roll marathon can build and build. I don't think the course in the last part can accommodate big numbers though so that would have to change.
I think the council were very unhappy with BTR / Run Liverpool.
I have a one man boycott of BTR events which is a shame as the biggest races in my home city.
