Yeah, the trams are fine on Sundays. It'll be nice for me to go to a race without having to drive home again afterwards!

I have booked into The Old Trafford Lodge, about 1.5 miles walk from the start. The price via www.booking.com made it the same as the local Travelodges and is a bit nearer. www.oldtraffordlodgehotel.co.uk.

Only issue with that one is that that section of Talbot Road is on the route, so not sure how early you'll be able to get away from the hotel afterwards with the road closures - although it's near the start so perhaps it'll be re-opened fairly quickly.

Apart from that it looks ideal - dead easy to get into town from there the day before, if that's something you're planning to do.

I'm coming up on the train on Saturday so am planning to have a leisurely walk (about 4 miles) to keep my legs working back to Piccadilly to get my train home.
