Only been sounded out for interest but I have offered 3:30 or 3:45 - might not be chosen or it could be a different time - early days. I think a couple of the other usual suspects have been approached too.

Depending how winter training goes, and whether or not I get a ballot place for VLM, I'd have thought I'd probably be targetting 3:45, so I may see you in April.

Wasn't refering to anyone in particular Sprouty76, was commenting on the thread as a whole, being Manchester born and bred, I just thought the marathon, whether charityor profit, it would be good for the city. :) Don't think I'll need a pace maker lol ;)

I agree, a marathon is good for the city (although it is entirely in Trafford, rather than Manchester) I think and hope it'll do more for running around here than that blasted 'Great' Manchester Run, despite that being the race that got me into all this madness.

I think people are merely discussing the race, and opinions on the route, price etc are commonplace on all forums - and are all fair game IMO.

For my part, despite the perhaps uninspiring route, I am looking forward to staggering around this marathon :) It better have a good medal though else I'll be well irked...

By comparison... Congleton half marathon £12.00, generous goody bag, all profits to charities.

Wilmslow is similar in it's philanthropy.

I might do this race but not because it's "good for Manchester" or a "worthwhile community event".

It's all a bit misleading, info implies that it's a continuation of the old Manchester Marathon, an event I would like to see again.

I just hope that any volunteers are aware that this is a business, not a fundraiser for a local club, or charity.

I'm not against it, I'm just not all, "wow, a Manchester marathon!".

wow another marathon in the north west ;-)

hopefully it will lead to even bigger and better things - one in the eye for frigging BUPA - on the whole its great that there is such a diverse amount of races to choose from - business ventures, charity and races organised by individuals on a whim - see terminators little run he's organised in March next year :) - come on you know you want to.
