"baked potatoe" (in a cafe where I stopped for lunch last Thursday). (spelling, not grammar, admittedly).
I do find that if one points things out politely and almost apologetically to people, they are sometimes quite grateful.
Other times, they just look at you uncomprehendingly.

Winded
I noticed a headline earlier - the front page of a US newspaper displayed on morning telly. It said "Liar liar speedo on fire."
I always talk about speedos - though they say speedo. I imagine this is just me; should it be speedo or speedos or should the Americans just learn to behave properly?

Maybe it's like their "math" to our "maths". I've never heard them referred to as "speedo" in the singular before though. It's as if they said "I like a pant", and you gave them one leg of a pair of trousers. Although my mum used to wear trouser suits in the 70s. On balance I'd like to think it's our cousins getting out of line, but I have no idea.
