Blimey, this is all a bit depressing; sorry to hear that the dream may be over for some (although Nellers, I reckon that you could stage a comeback in the nick of time... ![]() I'm still in the hunt, not least because I'll have gained a bonus 5 minutes by 2016 ![]() |

Sub 4 hr for me taking the time scale into consideration. I'm still hopefully hopeful.

3:20 for me. Need to get 37 minutes faster. Will have to lose some weight to stand a chance of doing it.

Training hasn't really happening atm but is going to start again with earnest. I am still planning on doing Chester and York but they probably won't be anywhere near the time I wanted to do. I have a cunning strategy of a run/walk based lsr for mara training in the hope that doing like that will get me doing longer than I would do if I was just running alone and thus build up my endurance. I have a fluid plan of run as much of the race as I can till it starts to feel hard then run 1 mile walk 1 minute with various versions of run/walk after that to get me to the finish. Depending on how training and weight loss goes I will review this upwards. GFA is still a desire but depending on how this year goes will depend on how quickly I can reasonably expect it to happen |

All sounds very reasonable EB. A year is time enough to make significant progress. Good luck!

Haven’t seen this recommended in any marathon training schedules, but I have just run my first fell race. I hadn't anticipated just how hard it would be to run down (9.30) when your legs have been turned to jelly by running up (20.30). Course record is 17.35 and I feel my 30.01 was respectable for a first attempt. Great fun and would love to do another one, but it probably needs specific training.

*blows away cobwebs from thread* Is anyone else still targeting this? I am planning to give the 3:15 a go at Brighton or get fit trying! |

Long term for me Magpie, maybe next year. VLM will be my first ever road Marathon and I am not sure what will happen. I have a 1:33 HM PB and need a 3:05 Marathon, I reckon I have it in me but it will take a year or so. |
