Belated congratulations to bree.
After a year of not achieving very much, but still learning a few things (especially what happens when you're very under trained for the marathon), I've had my act together a b it more of late. 5 consecutive 200+ mile months and losing a few pounds has made a difference and I've managed new pbs at 5k and 10k recently. It's still not enough for gfa, but in a week's time I'll be doing the Robin Hood marathon and hope to get quite a bit closer. If I do, it could still be on to get gfa next spring before we run out of time.
Hope everyone else is going well.

Sounds promising, MT!
I was really hopeful, having run 3:29 last year and needing 3:19:59, but I've bombed out of both efforts this year; 3:56 and 4:25 really doesn't show much progress! Pinning it all on a track marathon in March now; hope it counts!

Thanks Crash. My best is 3.57 and I also need 3.20. Hoping for 3.30 - 3.40 next week. I've yet to try following a pacer, so am considering starting with the 3.30 guys and hanging on for as long as possible. Good luck on the track!

I've had some nice consistent, injury-free training from April until this month when exams and work have got in the way. Training paces have dropped by close to a minute per mile, new pbs at 5k and 10k, and will find out how I'm doing at HMs on Sunday.
Mileage is still pretty low because I've been following the Furman half marathon plan, but there has been lots of cross training.
Definitely feeling like I've got a good base ready for upping the mileage over autumn/winter, but the idea of knocking 45 minutes off is still pretty daunting.

I'm definitely out what with being banned from anything longer than a Half Marathon on medical grounds (my wife will kill me if I put her through that again!) but I'm really impressed with some of the progress you guys are making. Watching with interest and cheering you all on from the sidelines.:-)

Hi All My running hasn't been going too well lately. Other stuff getting in the way so time and distance have fallen by the wayside. Also put a bit of weight on - just over half a stone and it's played havoc with my pace. Got a 10 miler at the end of October so see how I go then. Not expecting a great time though.
Hoping to try and get going next year but doubt I'll make the GFA on target, if at all. Ah well, I will still be popping in and out of this thread to see how things are going. Just going to try and concerntrate on pace and distance now with no pressure
Well done to those who's training is going according to plan.
