Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

I ended up emailing Garmin's Android dev team and the apparently the answer is no - they don't have any current apps that let you record using your phone then upload to Garmin connect.

From what other kind souls have posted, it looks like there was an Android app called Garmin Fit but this is no longer supported/being developed.

As HappyG(rrr) said, hardly surprising as Garmin want to sell their devices. My reason for investigating this was simply to take advantage of the automatic syncing between Garmin Connect and Fetch.

I can manually export each file from the App that records on my phone (using Strava/Endomondo etc) then import each to Fetch, I was just trying to find a more joined up way so that it all happens in the background.

Any other suggestions?

By the way Broadsword, that web site will let you sync any strava endomundo, mapmyrun, runkeeper (and others) activity to Garmin connect..

Ah, monsenb1, that site sounds good. So upload to e.g. strava or Endomondo, use tapirik to synch to Garmin Connect, then FE will auto download from GC. Job done?

yup! hopefully, if FE recognises new activities. It does take a long time to do the sync but it works well whenever I've used it to update my runkeeper activities from garmin/strava..

Ace, thanks monsenb1.
I've taken your suggestion and triedTapiriik. It's successfully synced my strava with my new Garmin Connect account. I've enabled the link between Garmin Connect and Fetch, so now I'm just waiting for this afternoon's run to make it across to Fetch from Garmin Connect!
If that works, it works - thank you.

It takes minutes usually to get from GC to Fetch. Sometimes seconds. I'm going to stalk your training and see what's there...! :-) G

Apparently you went for a walk a week ago. I don't know if that was your latest training?! (BTW, your running is way faster than mine. In fact, your walking is nearly faster than my running!) :-) G
