Well, good race, but disappointed by (a) running out of medals (b) the response by the RD to the lack of medals- in a very snappy tone "you've got your t-shirt and goody bag" so get over it, pretty much (c) the spread which I''ve been raving about for weeks wasn't as great as last year and in a rather crowded uncomfortable room :(

Still, some great performances- special mention to OC for a spectacular effort in his 12 in 12, and to RWR for another ridiculous new PB ;)

Thanks crooked-smile. Great to see you guys today. A Grand Day Out - sounds like a great film title that.

Off to drink beer now, well not off just sitting here and drinking beer.

So the good news is, if you didn't get a medal and you want one, they are going to order more. Go to the Fraserburgh Running Club's Facebook page to ask for one.

So, thinking back to today's run. I took off far too quickly in the first mile. Found myself worried that I was already struggling by the time we came back down to Maconochie Road. Slowed my pace down a touch and it felt a lot more comfortable. After we came out of Philorth, I started getting passed by runner after runner. Not entirely happy about this, but also not much I could do about it. Was already running a steady pace. I got caught up in a group of 4 slimmer, younger male runners so stuck with them for as long as possible. Managed this for about a mile before they took off.

After this, I heard another runner getting very close to me. I thought she was about to pass me, but it appeared that she just settled in behind me. I was desperate to walk at this point, but decided to keep steady miles going and keep her behind me for as long as possible. I knew(!) that if I could stay ahead of her, I could keep the pace going, but that as soon as she passed me then she would leave me behind. I aimed to keep her behind me until the next water stop.

Sure enough, at the next water stop I slowed to take a drink and she ran passed me. I somehow pulled the something out of the bag and immediately caught her and passed her. She kept up with me all the way out of Philorth, where we passed a few more runners. After Philorth, no seeing the 12 mile marker I seemed to suddenly feel very strong. I left my new friend behind me and picked up about 10 new places in the last mile.

As we turned past the new swimming pool, everyone was really pushing on at this point. I tried to pick up the pace for a sprint finish, but had nothing left in my legs. I got passed by two sprinters and could do nothing about it. I wait less than one minute to welcome home the girl who had kept me going for the last 6 miles, thanked and hugged her and then went to collapse.

Not my fastest time, but I feel that it was my most solid performance (if that makes sense).

CS - that's awful that they ran out of medals. I personally thought the race wasn't as well-organised as last year. The room the food was in was far too small. There is never a need to be nasty to folk. When I asked for my medal the wifie was not v friendly.

Saying that, I had a v enjoyable run with WKP and RWR, it was a gorgeous day and I really enjoyed it. Love helping a friend to a PB and seeing Old Croc after he completed his 12 in 12 was special.

4th time I've done it and I'll be back again I'm sure, it's the only half I do! Only sadness was missing sheri :-(

lovely to see you SF, great race report

Well done to all the runners today and great race report SF, missed seeing you at the end, although it wasn't easy to spot folk squeezed into that room where the food was!
