Industry needs re-regulating, deregulation of gambling laws was a big mistake.

The sheer amount of gambling sponsorship is staggering, to the extent that it seems to have pushed out about everything else in some places. The argument, especially in football, that it's all that's keeping things afloat, seems specious. I'm sure there are a lot of would-be sponsors who can't get a toehold, and who would probably be a better long term proposition.

Meanwhile, Bayern. From Munchen. They look a bit good. Anyone else play the UEFA CL fantasy football game? I had the feeling that Salzburg were in for a bit of a shoeing in the local derby yesterday, so brought in Müller and had Lewandowski as Captain, with Sané in midfield. Did quite well.

Fantasy football is in the same bucket as Wordle and star wars.

Paul Merson slagging off betting companies when he spent 10 years or more earning a living off Sky, most of whose adverts are for betting companies including their own, seems a bit hypocritical - he earned a nice living from it all.
Joey Barton, not everyones cup of tea, at least had the guts to call them out for it. FA fined him £30,000 and cost themselves millions in lost revenue due to their own duplicity once he pointed it out.

A little harsh on Merson, his connection was indirect, and the betting advertising has increased exponentially over time. I don't think any argument can be enhanced by citing Joseph Barton as an example.
Betting advertising should be banned, just like tobacco, as should alcohol adverts.

A little bit holier than thou considering your citing Merson, the Alcoholic Gambling addict who snorted enough coke to keep Pablo Escobar in the luxury he became accustomed to.

You could argue that Merson is uniquely placed to comment.
