I am eternally grateful to Shilton for winning us the League title with "that" save at Coventry, and helping to secure 2 European Cups.
However, he did once try to jump ahead of us on the first tee at The Forest of Arden golf course. By this time, he had not only failed to punch Maradonna in his smug, cheating face, he had also played for Derby.
So we told him to fuck off.

Yes Dio, have heard that. Trouble is the geriatric old f&&k took about 25 minutes to get to the corners. If they’d seen a keeper diving athletically one way or the other they probably would have hit a couple down the middle. Having seen the state of his reflexes and his/Linekers plan then going for the corners was a no brainer.
I think the deflected free kick was even worse mind, talk about rooted and unable to get off the ground.
Good job we learnt our lesson, and never took another old, shot keeper to the World Cup, the sort who’d allow a 45 yard mishit free kick drift over his head……

Shilton was always a bit slow when facing penalties.
I stood behind the goal when he faced one from Andy Gray, who nearly always blasted them straight down the middle. Let's just say, Shilton stood still, the ball went as predicted and he barely touched it as it flew in.
