I’m also tired of fans trying to argue from a position of moral superiority. Palace fans not understanding why Brighton don’t want to finish the season?

United fans claiming Liverpool fans care more about the title than people dying.

Liverpool fans claiming United/Everton are just desperate to stop them winning the league and that they hate Liverpool more than they love their own teams.

Each set of supporters totally missing the point that if the tables were turned they would feel exactly the same and be having the opposing arguments. We all like to think we’re better than that, in the main, we’re not. 95% of football fans are incredibly fickle in their beliefs and lose all sense of rationality when arguing with rival teams.

What has been proposed so far; i.e. finish the season and avoid the legal aggro which would ensue, no spectators, neutral grounds, etc. is the sensible approach once it is safe to continue. The only other alternatives are to end the season or do nothing until the coronavirus has gone completely.

I would not travel somewhere just to stand in the car park while my team plays, just to tell everyone that "I was there." That's not loyalty - just stupid.

A lot of clubs are not going to like some of the PL decisions but it sometimes needs a case to standing back to see the whole picture rather than just looking at it from a club's own perspective.

The current season is not going to conclude. We just have to find the best way of ending it and some clubs/fans will not like the outcome. There is no good answer to be had sadly

I agree Phil and neither would I, we are the 5%. Many Liverpool fans who have waited 30 years to see them win the league are not going to do it on their own in their houses, even if they are in a car park, or in the Anfield car park, it won’t happen.

I’ve genuinely no issue with whatever happens now, it was funny for a few days that Liverpool might be denied the league but that was before the seriousness of the situation kicked in, now I don’t care what happens. Surely they can end the league on a points per game scenario and then let it stand. Let two teams up from each league below with no relegations but five going down next season.

The only league challenge you get from that is qualification for Europe and teams in 3rd place wanting promotion. As you said, whatever happens somebody isn’t going to be happy but the current desperation to get the games underway is purely driven by finances. If fans can’t go in Rotherham and Rochdale are still fucked, they aren’t getting big sky money and playing behind closed doors for them is a nonsense.

They’d be better investing time into thinking about how the hell they get next season started and finished before the Euro’s. I can only see the scrapping of all Cups and European competitions enabling that, but the latter especially becomes financial again. The current flimsy state of football is finally coming home to roost.

Bob!
Next Season doesn't NEED to be started and finished before the Euros.

It might not even be started before the Euro's?

We might have a January to End November season with a Summer break?

Who knows what will happen, trying to rush it before it's safe is not the right answer though.

Steve Parish spoke a lot of sense today in an article that’s been widely shared.

I liked the tweet I saw that said if Brighton didn’t want to play their games in a neutral stadium, then they shouldn’t have built one. :-)

If the majority of sport was still amateur, then we would not even contemplate next season and everything would remain on hold. It all comes down to investment, sponsorship, salaries, broadcasting and prize money.

How many weeks have we been locked down? I think I can do without football to be honest. Is it really that important?

Ah, the beautiful game, remember that? Let's put down some jumpers and have a socially-distanced kickabout. Long shots only, and no hugging and kissing.
